Quality Assurance/Compliance Manager                                                                      

Job Classification: Exempt

Reports to:  Director of Operations

JOB DESCRIPTION

At Wet Noses Organic Dog Treat Company, the Quality Assurance/Compliance Manager will focus on the operations side of quality assurance; Quality Systems, Food Safety and the appropriate food safety systems, Sanitation, and Product Specifications.  The QA Manager monitors and advises on how the quality management system performs, publishes data and reports company performance against set indicators.  The QA Manager advises on changes in the QC and QA procedures and systems, implements new systems where necessary and provides training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality.  The QA Manager also continuously challenges process and proceadures to reduce redundences while monotoring high quality products.  Responsibilities are to oversee the production of goods/services that the company provides; ensuring that the organization works as efficiently as possible and that the products/services exceed customer expectations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES  

To perform the job of Quality Assurance/Compliance Manager successfully; an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Oversight and monitoring of operational processes for compliance with policies and procedures to include, but not limited to, GMP, HACCP, CAPA, and SQF, and other regulatory and company pre-requisite programs, audits (internal and third party), and supporting company or customer QA programs.
    • Create, document and implement quality inspection criteria and procedures.
    • Create & document any recalls: Recall point of contact.
    • Coordinate HACCP Meetings.
    • Coordinate HACCP walks and building GMP audits.
    • Responsible for the maintenance & upkeep of our CAPA (Corrective & Preventative Actions) register.
    • Inspect and analyze all aspects of the production cycle to ensure conformance to our quality control requirements (GMP, HACCP, SQF).
    • Inspect & test products being produced; removing product that fail to meet Wet Noses quality specifications. Report inspection & test data to the Director of Operations.
    • Report inspection & test data to the Director of Operations.
    • Ensure quality and freshness, consistency in quantity and quality and rotation of product.
    • Coordinate Quarterly Environmental Test and react appropriately.
    • Function as an information source for employees when critical quality issues arise.
    • Review CCP and CCQ points paperwork tracking to ensure that everything is within tolerance levels.

 

  • Close communication with production, purchasing, sales and R&D regarding acceptance, rejection and disposition of raw materials and finished products and is accountable for monitoring and ensuring a high standard of food processing sanitation at the pre-operational and operational stages of production.
    • Ensure quality and freshness, consistency in quantity and quality and rotation of product.
    • Point of Contact for plant GMP supplies.
    • Coordinate Customer Complaints process Track and Trend Report
    • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, training and safety records.
    • Work with internal Wet Noses, Inc. leadership to maintain efficient and compliant operations.

Necessary support to operations to ensure consistent high quality products are produced and maintained as well as proper costs control, food safety, sanitation, and safety performance

  • Sanitation - Monitor processes including the coordination and maintenance of sanitation records.
  • Maintain and Control Batch Sheets for accuracy and compliance.
  • Demonstrate operational excellence in safety, quality, cost and organizational development. 
  • Develop and train employees on effective quality assurance practices in accordance with SQF guidelines.
  • Provide specific training, coaching, direction & mentoring to all team members, ensuring that team members are developing the needed skill set.  
  • Promotes training activities to train staff about Wet Noses Compliance Rules, Standards and obligations.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including weights and measures, health and sanitation and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, training and safety records.
  • Review CCP and CCQ points paperwork tracking to ensure that everything is within tolerance levels.
  • Standardizes best practices across all areas of responsibility and the overall company.
  • Special Projects as assigned by the Director of Operations.
