What You Will Do:

We are seeking a passionate Production Scheduler with a strong sense of urgency to help us drive towards our vision of becoming the #1 Human Grade Pet Food & Treat manufacturer. This person will use their knowledge of the manufacturing process, throughputs, and various internal reports to create daily and weekly production schedules that position the company to over-deliver on customer expectations. To be effective, this person must also be a problem solver and feel comfortable making recommendations on how to improve our process.

This role requires superior communication, organization, and planning skils. The Production scheduler examiines custsomer orders, available staff, inventory, and machinery capabilities to effectively set and manage production schedules for mutiple manufacturing lines at once. In addition, the Production Scheduler monitors manufacturing performance and actively adjust schedules in respone to equipment failures or supply and personnel shortages. They also identify opportunities to make processes more efficent and cut down on production cost through more effective schedulinig.

Additional Duties:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for and liaison with the production team and various departments for all scheduling needs.
  • Collaborate with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve both internal and external customer needs.
  • Participate in regular forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; lead additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.
  • Partner with Purchasing counterpart to minimize material shortages
  • Create and maintain production schedules one week + in advance.
  • Maximize effectiveness of hourly and salaried production associates.
  • Provide quick responses to production issues.
  • Identify problems and help improve processes.
  • Use software and/or calendars to generate reports and schedules.
  • Ensure that company deadlines are met.
  • Work with managers to ensure all parts of the production process are flowing smoothly.
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent, bachelor's may be preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year work experience as a production scheduler or in a similar positon in the production industry.
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Strong math skills with the ability to make precise calculations about material, staffing needs, production expectations and manufacturing capabilites.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with excel.
  • Ability to think strategically and make critical decisions.
  • Ability to create and understand reports in order to make production decisions.
  • A desire to promote the success of the organization and production staff.

Work Environment:

All work is performed in an indoor warehouse production facility. While performing the duties of this position, employees may be exposed to ingredients that may contain allergens (peanuts, flour). Employees are also exposed to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezers, outdoor temperatures). Must be able to work in a shop floor environment and an office environment. Hours for position are dictated by the workload and at times require more than a typical 40-hour work week.

Shift: Day Shift - 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Normal work schedule is Monday - Friday; However extended hours, weekend and overtime work may occasonall be required.
